Verification is the single most boring thing on a dating site and the single most important. Here is exactly what happens when you join 4fterHours, in the order it happens.
Step one — age assurance at the door
Before you can create a profile, you complete a third-party age check. The provider confirms you are over 18 and returns a yes or no. We keep the result. The document itself never reaches our servers.
This step usually takes under a minute. If the provider cannot make a confident decision automatically, a human reviewer at their end takes over and the check completes within a few hours.
Step two — profile and username
You pick a username, a date of birth, a country and a city. None of this is published until step three completes. You can browse a read-only preview of your local room while you wait, but you cannot message anyone yet.
Step three — username-in-hand photo
The most distinctive part of our process is the simplest. You upload a photo of yourself holding a piece of paper with your 4fterHours username written on it. A real moderator on our side compares it to your profile photos and confirms the same person is in both.
Most members clear this step within an hour, often within ten minutes. The moderator does not ask for any document, only that the face in the verification photo matches the face in your profile.
Step four — you are inside
Once both checks pass, your profile is published, you can message anyone in your room, and your verified badge appears on your card. From that point on, the verification work is invisible to you. We re-check profiles in the background when photos change.
