How we keep the room grown-up.

Verification, moderation and discretion are the floor at 4fterHours.com — not paid add-ons. This page is the long version: how the room actually stays safe.

Verification

Every member completes two checks before they're inside:

  1. 1. Age assurance. A third-party provider confirms the member is 18 or older. We don't store the ID itself; we store the pass/fail result and an audit token.
  2. 2. Human review. A real moderator reviews the profile and the verification selfie (a photo of the member holding their chosen username). Most reviews complete within an hour.

Moderation

Reports are read by a human, usually within the hour. We act on first-party reports, pattern matches across accounts, and proactive sweeps. Members who break the rules — harassment, deception, sharing private material, bot-like behaviour — are removed, full stop. There is no appeal queue that takes weeks; you'll hear back, and so will they.

Discretion

  • · Online status is hidden by default. You decide who sees you active.
  • · Location is blurred to a neighbourhood radius. Members never see your exact address.
  • · Private galleries are vaulted by default; previews are watermarked and signed.
  • · One-tap pause hides your profile from search and matches until you're ready.
  • · Screenshots are discouraged in the app and members who abuse them are removed.

Data

We store the minimum we need to keep the room safe. Identity documents are processed by our verification partner and not retained by us in raw form. Messages and profile data live in encrypted databases. You can export your data, or delete your account, from Account → Privacy. Legal records we're required to retain are kept under the schedule in our privacy policy.

Age assurance, by country

  • 🇬🇧 United Kingdom

    Age-assured to the UK Online Safety Act. Verification through an Ofcom-aligned third-party provider; identity data is processed under UK GDPR.

  • 🇺🇸 United States

    18 U.S.C. § 2257 records held by the custodian of records. State-level age verification applied where required (TX, UT, LA and others).

  • 🇨🇦 Canada

    PIPEDA-aligned consent on personal information. Verification through a third-party provider; identity data is retained only as long as required.

  • 🇦🇺 Australia

    Aligned with the eSafety Commissioner's Safety by Design principles. Restricted to 18+; reports handled in line with the Online Safety Act 2021.

  • 🇳🇿 New Zealand

    Aligned with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. Verified Aotearoa members only; identity data is handled under the Information Privacy Principles.
